As many of you are well aware, the Netflix Docuseries The Tiger King has been taking the internet by storm. Millions of viewers are in awe of the bizarre yet entertaining plot that covers the big players in the exotic animal trade. The show chronicles the real life conflict between Joe Exotic, the flashy owner of G.W Zoo, and the animals rights activist Carole Baskin. One of the gems of this conflict was the hit single and subsequent music video release of Here Kitty Kitty by Joe Exotic. In the song, Joe Exotic takes a shot straight to the jugular of Carole Baskin, who led a movement to shut down Joe Exotic’s tiger cub petting zoo in Oklahoma.

Tiger King Here Kitty Kitty
The meaning of Here Kitty Kitty by Joe is straightforward. In the song, Joe speculates that Carole Baskin murdered her late husband, and preceded to feed his body to the tigers. The Here Kitty Kitty lyrics read:
“Mama’s got some treats for you
Oh, here kitty kitty
You can’t find this taste in the zoo”

In the music video, a Carole Baskin look alike is seen feeding a tiger a plate that is supposed to represent her husband’s body, which features a fake hand and some raw meat. Joe Exotic continues to sing:
“Cause it’s a big 40 acres and if you’re not careful you’ll be gone in a blink of an eye”
At the end of this line, Joe Exotic comedically disappears from the screen, leaving Carole alone with the plate of human remains. In the Netflix show, Joe Exotic explains that the stomach acids in tigers are so strong that they disenegrate all bones that enter the stomach, leaving no trace of a body. The tiger king makes sure to reiterate this point in the song, singing
“No bones, no remains but that won’t change the fact that Don sure ain’t comin’ back”

What happened to Carol Baskin’s missing husband?
In 1997, Carole was married to a rich businessman named Don Lewis. The couple were clearly going through a rough patch, as Don had filed for a restraining order against Carole stating that she had threatened his life. A couple weeks later, Don Lewis disappeared and was never seen again. The majority of his estate was handed over to Carole through which some have called mysterious circumstances, mostly relating to a will that mentions Don’s disappearance, which is not proper language for a will.
Did Carol Baskin kill her husband
No one knows if Carole Baskin actually killed her husband. While the Tiger King show on Netflix certainly did a great job of pointing out the irregularities in the case, there is still no physical evidence linking Carole to the death of her husband. There are however clear signs that Carole was involved in some shady business in regards to Don Lewis’ will.
