Best way to get dog poop off shoes

Getting dog poop off your shoes can be a hard task, especially if the dog poop is mixed with mud and stuck inside the crevices of your shoe. Read below for the best way to get dog poop off shoes.

  1. Try to pick out as much as you can

If you are outside, look for a stick or twig. Use it to pick out the poop from your shoes. While this probably won’t remove all the poop, you should be able to pick out the larger parts.

  1. Leave out in the sun

If you have an extra pair of shoes, you can simply leave the shoes with dog poop out in the sun. This will cause the dog poop to harden. After it hardens, it will be much easier to pick off the dog poop. Sometimes the poop will fall off by itself after you walk around for a while.

  1. Hose or power hose

If you happen to have a hose or power hose, this will solve the problem immediately. Simply put the water pressure on a high level, and then spray the shoes. If there are still spots of dog poop on the shoes, you can try adding some soap to the surface of the shoe.

  1. Warm water and brush

If you have access to warm water and a brush, then you can easily remove the dog poop from the shoe. Simply apply soap to the shoe, and then run warm water over it. Warm water is better at removing substances than cold water. While you are running the warm water of the shoe, scrub it aggressively with a brush. Don’t forget to thoroughly wash the brush afterwards to remove the poop smell from it.

  1. Bleach

Another way to get dog poop off shoes is by creating a bleach and water solution. Make a solution of 1 part bleach to 2 parts water, and mix them in a big bowl/container (big enough that your shoe can fit in). Then place the shoe with dog poop into the container (try to only submerge the bottom part of the shoe). After 1 to 2 hours, the poop should fall off your shoe.

  1. Clorox wipe

Some people have also successfully gotten dog poop off their dog shoes by simply wiping it with a clorox bleach wipe. While we have never tried this, you might as well give it a shot if none of the other methods work for you.
