How to use Valbazen for chickens

It is important to note that chickens must first be given another kind of wormer before administering Valbazen. This is because chickens can only get rid of so much debris in their guts at a time. Due to the strength of the medication, going straight to Valbazen can potentially be very harmful to the chicken.

We recommend using Safeguard which can be bought for $34. Here is the process we would recommend that involves an initial dose of Safeguard, followed by administering the Valbazen:

• Give your chickens 2 ounces of Safeguard in a gallon of water for a single day. Doing this will rid the chickens of the roundworms and prepare them for the Valbazen treatment that will then rid them of all parasites. (** Note that you should dump the eggs that you receive for the 2 weeks following treatment)
• Wait approximately 10 days and then start the Valbazen treatment. Treatment can be given in 2 different ways:
  1. Individually: Take an oral syringe and squirt the proper dosage down each chicken’s throat.
  2. Group treatment: inject the dosage needed into a small piece of bread and that feed that bread to the chickens who need to be treated for worms.
• After the Safeguard and Valbazen cycle, you will need to focus on strengthening their immune system with probiotics. You can treat them with probiotic supplements, or simply feed them a small amount of yogurt or buttermilk.

Is Valbazen safe for pregnant goats or cattle?

You should never administer to female cattle during the first 45 days of pregnancy or for 45 days after the removal of bulls. Also, make sure to not treat ewes or does during the first 30 days of pregnancy or for 30 days after removal of rams or bucks.

Valbazen dosage for goat

Valbazen dosage for goat is 20 mg/kg orally; the withdrawal time is 9 days for meat and 7 days for milk.
